Sponsor Benefits

The Novus Programme enrols university students through online assessment centres, to ensure that Novus students are of a high calibre.

Currently, the Novus Programme collaborates with 11 sponsors and 17 UK universities, including:

Recruitment

The Novus Programme Manager assists sponsors in recruiting early talent by promoting roles to approximately 125 Novus students annually.

The Programme Manager also uploads these roles onto the job portals of the 12 partner universities. Opportunities can include summer placements (8-12 weeks), year-long placements (starting around September), and graduate roles. Novus can advertise a variety of positions in logistics, supply chain, operations, HR, finance, IT, and sales.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Becoming a Novus sponsor demonstrates a company’s commitment to supporting the younger generation and their career development.

The Novus Programme assists sponsors in addressing recruitment gaps within the logistics industry.

Events

Through the Novus Programme, sponsors can learn about university careers fairs, logistics-specific events, and general employer events, held both on campus and online.

These events are excellent opportunities to promote roles across multiple universities.

Online Careers Fair

In previous years, the Novus Careers Fair was a single, large online event lasting approximately four hours.

Based on feedback, this event has now been divided into three online fairs, scheduled for the last week of November and the first two weeks of December. Sponsors can select which event they wish to attend. These fairs provide an excellent opportunity for sponsors to promote their roles and engage with interested students.

Site Tours

Each year, the Novus Programme invites students to attend sponsor site tours.

These tours engage young people with the industry, help them identify potential careers, and generate enthusiasm for the logistics sector. They also provide a platform to promote current roles and for placement students to enhance their presentation skills. Site tours are an effective way to build a pipeline of potential recruits for sponsors.

Sponsor Meetings

There are three sponsor meetings throughout the academic year.

During these meetings, the Novus Programme Manager provides updates on the programme and any changes. Continuous improvement is a key focus, achieved through feedback from both sponsors and universities. Additionally, Novus students present their experiences from yearlong placements or graduate roles, offering valuable insights and opportunities for best practice sharing.

Professional Mentoring

Each year, sponsors can nominate employees to become a Novus Professional Mentor.

Novus pays for and schedules a full day of online training in August, ensuring mentors are confident in their roles. The leadership and communication skills gained are transferable to many aspects of the employee’s job.

Guest Lectures

Novus sponsors can nominate employees to deliver guest lectures at universities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for employees that want to share their expertise and knowledge with the next generation.

Assessment Centres

To join the Novus Programme, students must demonstrate their capabilities and enthusiasm by passing an online assessment centre, held every Wednesday in October, November, and March.

Novus sponsors are invited to provide assessors for either morning or afternoon sessions. These centres are an excellent way for sponsors to identify early talent and direct students to their roles. Assessing also offers new staff members insight into the recruitment process and the Novus Programme.
